Your Questions, Answered

  • If you are an existing customer you don’t need to do anything - you are automatically signed up for the next year.

If you’re a new customer you can sign up here.

Box deliveries begin in May, but you can sign up earlier if you want to ensure you get a box.

If we’re fully subscribed, then join our email list here to be notified when boxes become available.

  • Every week during the growing season (May-November) we put a selection of what we have available into the box - what you get will always be determined by what is ready to harvest that month. A small box will have 6 items and is good for 1-2 people, a medium will have 8 (2-3 people) and a large will have 10 (4-5 people). We aim for a balance of different types of produce with an emphasis on leafy greens.

Nearly everything in our box is grown on site and harvested immediately before it is delivered, but we do occasionally buy in produce from organic growers in East Lothian to make sure we always deliver good value.

  • When you sign up our system automatically takes a payment from you each week and we deliver you a box. Most of our customers will get a box every week throughout the season. You can cancel but we ask for 4 weeks notice. You can also choose to pay for the whole season up front instead, which helps us enormously with cash flow.

  • Your box will always contain the best, freshest veg that we have to offer that week. To keep our costs and prices as low as possible we try to run a simple operation and so we cannot customise boxes. However we will always do our best to provide a balanced and varied selection.

  • Boxes are packed and delivered on Thursdays. You can pick up from a collection point in Dunbar, East Linton or North Berwick for no charge - your box will be placed in a locker with a combination lock, and you’ll be given the code to open it. Or you can have your box delivered to your door for an additional £2 if you live within our delivery area, shown here (scroll down). We will ring your bell, and if you’re not in we will leave the box outside. You can use our portal to give us special instructions for delivery, tell us to deliver to someone else when you’re away, or change your address.

  • Collection points are in Dunbar, North Berwick, East Linton, Tyninghame and Cockburnspath and they are shown on a map here (you’ll need to scroll down a bit). Every Thursday boxes are placed in sheds with combination locks and customers are given the code to the lock. We usually deliver to the collection points in the early afternoon and would suggest that you collect your box by end Friday in order to get your veg in the best possible condition, although they will last for a few days in the sheds.

  • Our boxes are priced based on the cost of growing the produce. We aim to deliver a high quality product for less than you’d pay for equivalent quality at the supermarket. You can get cheaper vegetables elsewhere but we think you’ll notice the difference in quality immediately. We offer discounted boxes for those on lower incomes as we want as many people in East Lothian as possible to be able to access our produce. You can find the discounted prices on our store

  • If you are a customer you get a login to our portal which allows you to donate or pause your subscription, change your box size or delivery schedule and (hopefully not!) cancel your box. You can also contact our team on the admin@tyninghame.farm email address. If you’re not a customer we suggest joining our email list to receive regular updates on volunteering and other news from the farm.

  • You can manage your subscription through our portal. If you are away and can’t use your box we prefer it if you can donate your box to a friend or neighbour, or to a good cause - this helps us keep the farm going and support local jobs and community. You can also pause your subscription for a week or two if you feel this is necessary.

  • You can join our email list, turn up to volunteer at the farm, or make a donation via our portal.

  • Email us at admin@tyninghame.farm and we will let you know the code

  • To avoid waste we want to reuse our boxes and bags as much as possible. If you use a collection point, simply leave your empty box/bag in the shed when you pick up your new box. If you get a delivery, leave your box/bag by your door on Thursday morning and we’ll pick it up when we deliver to you.

  • We grow using organic and agroecological principles - we use no pesticides or artificial fertilisers and work to build soil health and biodiversity as we grow. We are not organic certified as that is a long process that takes a few years, but our goal is to eventually do so.
